Moments Of Contentment And Happiness
Now I look back and think, Why didn’t I just enjoy my twenties instead of wasting so much time being insecure? Look back at your own life to the moments when you demonstrated your own unique strength and resilience. You can find moments of contentment and happiness, even when you’re in the middle of rebuilding yourself. What if you are in the middle of a breakdown right now? If/when you break down, you can fill in the gaps and rebuild with gentleness. Focus on being steady, open, and balanced. The sweetness or good space lets you remain open. One of the main goals in teaching a balanced yoga class is to guide the student to achieve a state of homeostasis. Homeostasis comes from the Latin homeo, which means similar. Stasis means inactivity or equilibrium. Being steady/still is the foundation for creating more balance. I felt great for months after my marathon disaster. I took time off from running since I didn’t know if crying while I ran was going to become a regular thing. Not achieving my goal time was a gift.
Hearts Of Stone
I spent time in open spaces, and with people older and wiser than me. It takes a lot of effort to run from your fears, to avoid conflict, and to not speak your truth. It’s even more work to stay in motion, to do things quickly at a hurried pace. I learned that happiness is not an external quest. It’s not hiding in the next big purchase, relationship, or career move. Happiness is never found in the waiting. It’s found in committing to your resilience. I made a vow to stop wasting precious time by postponing, worrying, or waiting for the world to stop for my perpetual uncertainty. Happiness ebbs and flows like waves in the ocean, or ripples in a lake. I’m not happy if I’m not improving, evolving, moving forward, and learning. I acknowledge that regardless of the goal, it’s the process that creates resilience. That’s what’s most valuable, not the result. All The Trials
The mind always wants what is better. Acknowledge that you may have a belief that isn’t serving you. Develop an open mind to learn a new way of being that will serve your unique strengths. Face your fears, don’t run from them. Recognize that you are already resilient. Each disappointment carries a lesson. Bring to mind a situation where you felt yourself bounce back, a time you were able to bend. What Is Slowing Your Growth? How do we surrender in order to let go of the past? Take responsibility for inertia and habits that aren’t serving you. Relinquishing responsibility and waiting for someone to rescue you are signs of inertia. You’ve purchased the course, hired the therapist, employed the teacher, or recruited a friend to be the one who saves you or does the work for you. Expectation is premeditated resentment. This is a dangerous place to be because resentment won’t take you out of inertia or stagnation. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
You have to take responsibility for yourself. Begin by exploring the pockets of your life in which you are not fully awake. This can show up in certain beliefs or expectations you have from others. Consider where inertia is playing a role in the situation you are currently in. Create a list of five things you are waiting to accomplish and haven’t. Most of the time the source that you think is causing you stress isn’t really the root of the stress. What are the causes that I routinely blame for my stress? Then ask yourself, What is the real source that is holding me back? People will disappoint you. People will rarely live up to your expectations. Don’t try to change anyone but yourself. How are you willing to show up for you? Why are you seeking what you seek? What is my sense of truth? Am I seeking emptiness or fullness, and why? Is your reason for seeking emptiness or fullness truly authentic, or is it a way of hiding from the truth? You’ll stop stepping into the same potholes and ultimately understand why you are here. When we arrive at the moment where we can unhook ourselves from past experiences, put in the required effort, and get clear about what we want, we can achieve emotional freedom. What prevents us from reaching our goals is that we act out from the past unconsciously. We constantly travel with our past then resent that we brought it along in the first place. My prayer for you is that you avail yourself of resources that remind you to practice and surround yourself with support. You know it’s going to be work, but you have the capacity to remain vigilant and hopeful and deeply moved by those around you and to know at a deep level that you are radically loved. Keeping a schedule or running log helped keep me on track and it was key in helping me slowly build to run longer distances. Having the right type of running shoes can make all the difference between having a good run or having your running career end after the first lap. It’s always better together. Having a running buddy is a great way to stay motivated. You can help build each other up, as we can sometimes fall into laziness. Doing run or walk ratios helps with your recovery. I’ve run four marathons, and I’ve used a run or walk ratio through the entire training and actual races. Running studies have shown that outdoor running increases leg strength and ankle flexibility more than treadmill running. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to get some fresh air and connect with the elements. Stretching before and after a run improves recovery. I suffer from plantar fasciitis. Use a tennis ball to roll the bottoms of your feet before and after you run. When rolling, move from side to side as you roll the ball from the toes to the heel, making sure to cover the entire sole of the foot.
