Now look at your home. If you do not, work on how you can decorate your home with these joyful colors to symbolize the blissful ingredients of your life. You can make a poster using the colors of your five joy ingredients. Write a word in each color that is evocative of your five ingredients. Make it lyrical, poetic. Within you there is a blissful, joyful child full of vitality. This part of you is wired to thrive, lives for fun, and is always up for an adventure. This part is the divine spark within you, the part that laughs uncontrollably at something silly, and the part that dances with abandon when no one is watching. When I made a decision to be happy after a tough couple of years, I realized that I needed to reconnect to the part of me from early childhood that was unfettered and joyful. I set about finding ways to do that. Some were silly, like rolling down grassy hills with my toddler cousins, which turned out to be really fun. Others were more logical, like doing an intentional art project that a child would enjoy. I made the little cartoon characters out of a kit with pieces you shrink in the oven, except I shaped mine into new shapes. I was working as a kindergarten teacher and nanny, so I had lots of opportunities to observe happy children.

I knew I needed to recapture that essence for myself. What Kind of Kid Are You? Imagine you are a happy child, free to spend the afternoon playing in whatever way you choose. If you had to pick one activity, which would you choose? Which one word best describes you? If you could go on one of these beach vacations, which would it be? The letter that you chose the most times is your primary inner child type. That is your secondary inner child type. These two types combine to create your own personal inner child type. Read through the descriptions and think about how you can affirm and foster the true you. Physical activities from dance to team sports appeal to the athlete and are a very important outlet for acting out the kinetic energy within. Athletes like to jump, run, bounce on trampolines, and push themselves. The creator seeks to find beauty and make things attractive and is often a gifted artist, writer, musician, or designer.

Within us all is a radiant inner child bathed in joy. I allow my inner joy wellspring to be unbounded and free, to power me up, and to keep me radiantly healthy! You are a bubbling spring of pure joy. That is your true state of being. You can be forever full with the effervescence of your own true nature. Being joyful simply takes practice. How can you practice a spontaneous feeling? you might ask. You’re about to find out. Breathe deeply and find a peaceful moment. It’s a challenge in such a stimulating world, but you can do it. Once you have gotten centered and calm, take a moment to ponder how joyful you feel right now. Where would you rate your joyfulness on a scale of one to ten? Now commit to going deeper into your own joy. With your eyes closed, breathe in and state, I direct my breath into the center of my inner joy wellspring now. Breathe. Feel where the air and energy seem to go. Notice where they are in your body. Repeat the word joy in your mind with each breath. Do you feel the joy you set free now circulating within you? Whether you feel it or not, it is happening. Allow yourself to relax into it. Now say, I allow my inner joy to flow wherever it is needed to raise my vibration. Notice where it goes. You may experience this as a knowing, like you instantly know it flowed to your heart. Or you may sense it kinesthetically because an area of your body, like the back of your neck, gets hotter. Feel the joy in you freed now. Release your joy today!
