No One Else Is Going To Put You First
It’s time to make yourself matter. If you don’t put yourself first, no one else is going to put you first. If you don’t think you deserve the best, no one else is going to give it to you. If you don’t work on your dream, no one else is going to make it come true for you. It is time to get clear on what you really, really want. Keep in mind, you deserve the best. When you make progress, you can positively impact others and live the life you love! As long as you make time for yourself, it doesn’t matter if you choose to take that time at the same time every day or different ones. The important point is that you make the time. When you do that for yourself, you are telling yourself that you are worthy. List 5 things you’re grateful for when you wake up every morning. Learn to manage your emotions and mind chatter as this can be a key to success in different areas of our life. Now is the time to decide that you matter.
Not Afraid
It’s okay to be selfish in a good way. Just do it and stick with it. The results will delight you for the rest of your life. The first two steps focus a lot on our inner stuff and now let’s take a look outside to see what we can eliminate to support better sleep. I want you to take a hard look at what is going on in your bedroom that is not supporting restorative sleep. Do you have anything under your bed? Can you either move it or store it away? Keeping things under the bed obstructs the free flow of energy necessary for good sleep. Is the bed, other furniture, electronics or anything else in your bedroom either not working or broken? Do you have a lot of red or other very bright colors in your bedroom? So, there’s no way you can sleep. Easiest fixes are with bedding and objects in the room. Switch to more relaxing blues and greens for easier sleep. Get rid of them right away. Replace these with opportunities that allow for humor, personal development, inspiration and other positive feelings. Keep your cell phones at least 5 feet away even if in airplane mode. You Can't Do That
Avoid working in your bed unless there’s no other choice. When your bed is seen as a workplace, your body will have difficulty easily resting there. If your bedroom is the only option for a workspace, consider assigning a corner of the room or even a dedicated chair that signals your subconscious that you are in work mode. Your bed should not be that space for you. Sometimes it is not practical, but in general, late night eating is not recommended. When you eat late at night, your body must work to digest the food. This does not allow your organs the time they need to rest while we sleep. If you’re into essential oils and candles, watch out for artificial ingredients that do more damage than help. Switch to natural and safer sources that are good for you and the planet. Another area to watch out for is discussing intense or potentially argumentative topics before going to bed. Most of us are tired and may not have all the logic and reasonableness working at optimal levels before sleeping. This list will get you started, whether you do them all or start with a few, they will all make a huge difference in getting you the restorative sleep you want! Alrighty, let’s do some fun stuff now that can help with enjoying good sleep. Lighten Up
We’ve already talked about some of them in the earlier steps and now we will build on them. Add some of these to your nightly routine and feel free to add your own favorites! Music, music, music! I can’t say enough about this. It’s got to be the relaxing and soothing type. Yes to meditation music of course! There’s a lot of variety out there with apps, playlists and even YouTube. Experiment to see what works for you. Journal, or if you’re not a fan of that word, then just write stuff down. Something magical happens when you write. Reflect on the key wins or takeaways of the day, express gratitude and follow it up with a statement on how you’d like the next day to unfold. Remember to be safe and to blow out the candles and turn off diffusers before sleeping. Whatever you put on your body will be directly absorbed through your skin, so pay attention to what you’re using. Add some soft pillows and accessories to create a cozy environment. Pay attention to the materials that touch your body. Some of the artificial materials can cause static and interfere with the quality of sleep. Reading labels will help you decide what is best for you. Keeping crystals in your bedroom such as tourmaline and shungite can be extremely beneficial. Avoid stimulating crystals such as Clear Quartz, as these are amplifiers. You can create a ritual to connect with the earth and to feel its strong support flowing into your body before going to bed. One way to do this is to sit at the edge of your bed with your feet planted firmly on the floor beneath you. Take a few healing breaths, setting your intention for a high quality, restorative night’s rest. Doing this type of grounding work will help your body feel safe and will help you relax more easily. It is extremely challenging to master your emotions. This is not something that you will be able to master overnight. In fact, as a mompreneur, it often feels impossible as we have to keep so many balls up in the air all the time. That’s why I like to focus on managing our emotions as I believe it is impossible to master them. So, how do we even get started? Stress is a silent killer causing 60% of all illnesses. Most people are unaware of how much their stress levels are triggered by external and internal factors, which oftentimes shows up as overwhelm.
