You Will Crash Soon After
When you don’t give your body what it needs, it becomes difficult to control your food cravings throughout the day. You are hardwired to eat, and your hormones will seek out carbs first because they give us the quickest energy. But as you are now beginning to recognize, you will crash soon after. Balanced eating will set you free! A great way to get started making good choices is to have healthy options readily available. I always advise my clients to prepare snack packs of dried fruits and nuts to be able to quickly toss into their purse or keep at their desk. What snacks and foods can you prepare and package so that they are ready when you need them? What is the relationship you have with yourself around food? It’s important to know that how you talk to yourself matters because your mind is a powerful component of personal change and personal growth. It’s important that you see that you are worthy of being healthy and happy. When you beat yourself up over every food mistake you make, you are pushing yourself down a negative rabbit hole. You can get trapped inside your head telling yourself all kinds of stories, but I am here to tell you that you can rewrite your story and walk away from those obstacles you put in your mind. Things you might be telling yourself that are simply not true. Things like maybe you don’t feel like you are a good mom or doing a good job balancing it all or maybe you don’t think you should take care of yourself at all because you have so many other responsibilities. I’d like to share a strategy that can help you feel more worthy.
Something So Right
Make a list of sentences that describe how you want to feel. Every morning, choose to read these aloud to yourself as a way of honoring your commitment to yourself. Now, it’s possible that these are words that you don’t necessarily feel about yourself right now. Don’t worry about that. This is part of the exercise. The more you say them and commit to them, the more things will begin to change for you. I am healthy, confident, and I feel great. I focus on good foods that give me energy. I am empowered to make changes that move me towards my goals. I am in control of my own actions and make smart decisions. We all have the power to change our relationships with food. Food is often a way that we console or reward ourselves. A Certain Kind Of Fool
Instead of rewarding or consoling ourselves with cupcakes, realize that when we eat real, nutritious food, we will feel better and have the energy to do what we want. Staying committed is easier said than done. We can go on vacation and go off the rails drinking and eating everything without thinking about the repercussions. Then it may take us a month to get back on track. Soon after, the holidays come and then there are birthdays and celebrations and it’s all just a slippery slope. The thing is, eating for energy is a lifestyle commitment. It’s a commitment to your life. And your life is going on all the time, whether or not you are on vacation, it’s a holiday, it’s your birthday or whatever you have going on. So, I’m not saying to shun your birthday cake! On the contrary, I want you to enjoy your birthday cake and, hopefully, there will be sprinkles everywhere! It’s just that I want you to make a commitment to yourself to live a nutritious lifestyle with an occasional indulgence. Occasional doesn’t mean every day or every week. Occasional means occasional. That means once in a while. Army Of One
So, if you went for the pizza this afternoon, that means that you’ll make a better choice for dessert after dinner. Staying true to your commitment but flexible in your approach is really what it comes down to. Staying committed really comes down to every choice you make. Is it to be a better mom so you can be more involved with your children? Is it so you can pay closer attention to your client conversations? Is it so you can have enough energy left over at the end of the day to indulge in one of your passions? Think about what it is you really want that energy for and remind yourself that those energy depleting foods are not going to get you what you want. One of my favorite exercises that I use with my clients is to have them identify their bigger why and then connect it to what we talked about in step 3, recognizing how our food choices make us feel. I’d like to encourage you to write a sentence that you can say to yourself when you are in this situation. What is your sentence? Your food choices greatly impact the quality of your life. You are in control of what you eat. We all need food to live, the question is, how will you choose to live? However, in a physical store, visitors are more likely to convert because they have taken the effort to visit the store. In most cases, this happens because they don’t immediately see a way to engage with you in the future. Most people will not buy your product or services the first time they visit your site. Usually, they ended up on your site looking for a solution to the problem they are currently facing, they checked your solution and left with a fair idea of how your solution could solve their problem.
